Abstract
The social networking sites have had both positive and negative impacts on the family relationships of the users. The study took an attempt to explore whether greater use of the social networking sites is associated with the declining family interaction and emotional attachment among the users. The study collected data by using mixed methods from 204 people living in Rajshahi City. Four types of questionnaires were developed as tool to collect data from four categories of respondents, such as, students of University of Rajshahi, local students, couples and guardians. The study also used case study method on three respondents of each category and observed the field to get in-depth ideas on the research problem. The over all findings of this study suggest that the rate of interpersonal interaction among the family members has been decreasing slowly resultantly less emotional attachment developed among family members of social networking site users.
