On 22 May, 2025, the English Language Club at Varendra University organized a successful session titled “Literary Research Fundamentals: Hands-on Workshop for Absolute Beginners,” designed to introduce aspiring scholars to the basic processes and methodologies of literary research.
The keynote speaker for the session, Nayeem Al-Hasib, Assistant Professor in the Department of English at Varendra University, shared insightful information about the role of research in literature, comparing it to gymnastics for the brain. He elaborated on various stages of the research process, identifying research gaps in literary studies, discussing theoretical frameworks, literary research methodologies, as well as research discussions and conclusions. His emphasis on the idea that the process holds greater significance than the outcome itself was a key highlight of the session.

He also discussed various techniques, goals, and strategies employed by authors or researchers, ways to conduct research, and insight into the authors' inspiration behind their research papers.
Md. Moddasir Bhuiyan Mahi, Lecturer in the Department of English at Varendra University, addressed the topic of citation, explaining different types, such as citations in prose and parenthetical citations. He also discussed methods for avoiding plagiarism in research papers and provided clear guidance on documenting a journal article and selecting the appropriate citation style.
