On May 21, 2025, the Department of English at Varendra University held a heartfelt celebration marking the graduation of the BA 27th and 28th batches and bidding farewell to the MA 32nd batch. The event took place at the university campus on Bypass Road, Chandrima, Paba, Rajshahi.
The ceremony commenced at 11:00 AM with recitations from the Holy Quran and the Holy Gita, symbolizing unity and respect for spiritual diversity. Around 300 students gathered for the occasion, creating a vibrant and joyous atmosphere.
The event was graced by Prof. Dr. Md. Khademul Islam Molla, Honourable Vice Chancellor of Varendra University, who attended as the Chief Guest. The program also welcomed several special guests, including Prof. Dr. Ananda Kumar Saha, Pro Vice Chancellor; Prof. Dr. Md. Faizar Rahman, Treasurer; and Suranjit Mondal, Registrar. The event was presided over by Prof. Md. Shahidur Rahman, Head of the Department of English.
In their speeches, the distinguished guests congratulated the graduating students and extended their best wishes to the outgoing MA students. They offered words of inspiration and guidance as they prepared for their futures. Selected students also took the stage to express their reflections, gratitude, and cherished memories from their time in the department.
Crests were formally presented to the students of the MA 32nd batch and to the graduates of the BA 27th and 28th batches, symbolizing their academic achievements and marking the end of one chapter and the beginning of another.
The celebration culminated in a lively cultural segment, where students showcased a variety of performances that captivated the audience and added a festive spirit to the day. The auditorium was filled with students from across semesters, all of whom enthusiastically participated and appreciated the program.
The Head of the Department formally concluded the event at 5:00 PM. The day ended with a colorful celebration of academic success, fond farewells, and the vibrant community spirit of the Department of English at Varendra University.
