The Sociology Department of Varendra University organized a special lecture titled “Higher Education Abroad and Scholarship Management” on January 22, 2025. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Runa Laila, an esteemed academic and former faculty member of Sociology at the University of Rajshahi and Gender Studies at the University of Dhaka. Currently, she serves as Senior Research Fellow, Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology,

Vrije University Amsterdam in Netherlands.

In her engaging and insightful session, Dr. Laila discussed the nuances of pursuing higher education abroad, emphasizing the importance of planning and preparation for scholarships. She shared practical strategies for identifying opportunities, crafting strong applications, and managing the challenges of studying in foreign academic environments.

The session was attended by students from various semesters, alongside faculty members of the Sociology Department. Participants found the lecture highly motivating and informative, with many expressing renewed enthusiasm to pursue international academic opportunities.
